Ott Tänak Crowned WRC Drivers' World Champion
Ott Tänak became the WRC World Champion on October 27, making him the first ever Estonian to take the title. Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja scored enough points at the penultimate race of the season at RallyRACC Catalunya-Rally España to take the title in their Toyota Yaris over the only other two contenders going into the race weekend, Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). In the following week, Tänak's move to Hyundai was made official.


The Ambassador of Estonia to the United States Mr. Jonatan Vseviov and the Consul General of Estonia Ms. Kairi Künka held a cocktail reception announcing the official opening of the EAS - Enterprise Estonia New York branch office (See the article in Estonian on p.1). Among the distinguished guests were the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Jüri Ratas; the Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia, Mrs. Mailis Reps; the Commissioner at NYC Mayor's Office for International Affairs, Mrs. Penny Abeywardena; the Management Board Member at Enterprise Estonia, Mrs. Sigrid Harjo, their accompanying business delegations and other honorable guests of the event.     Photography by Eleri Ever

On October 23-30, 24 young people from three border towns – Valga (Estonia), Daugavapils (Latvia) and Šalčininkai (Lithuania) – were on a road trip to visit each other’s cities and discuss the opportunities and challenges of living in border zones.

NY Estonian Valev Laube Nominated for Forbes 30 Under 30 List
Estonian-born New York-based designer, multimedia producer and marketing specialist Valev Laube has been nominated for the prestigious American 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 List. Only three Estonians, based in Europe and Asia, have previously made the list.

EANC calls on Estonian Americans to join us on November 8th and 9th for the Joint Baltic American National Committee’s 13th conference in Washington, DC. The all-day conference on Saturday will feature many high-level experts, including Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas, Windows on Eurasia author and long-time supporter of the Baltic nations Paul Goble, WTOP national security correspondent JJ Green, and University of Toronto professor Andres Kasekamp.
