Major General Martin Herem recently made his first official visit as the Chief of Estonian Defence Forces to our nation’s capital and was hosted by the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) think tank for a conversation about his perspectives on defense issues going into the next decade.


Hundreds of fairy tales, dozens of magical objects and numerous strange encounters – the Estonian National Museum (ERM) exhibition ‘Once Upon a Time...’ takes visitors on a journey through a magical forest and the underworld to meet holograms of heroes in the exhibition hall and guides them out of hell via an eight-metre laser corridor.

“By autumn of the year before last,” said Katrin Sipelgas, Head Curator and originator of the exhibition concept, “I had thought about fairy tales for so long that I finally decided to turn them into an exhibition. The original versions of the same stories that have become popular thanks to contemporary fairy tale films were told in our farmhouses 100 years ago or even earlier.

The Estonian-Latvian co-production film “Surematu” (“Immortal”) had a sold out US premier on February 11,  at New York’s MoMA, The Museum of Modern Art as part of the Doc Fortnight series.

Interior Minister: Security Cooperation Main Topic at U.S. Meetings
Interior minister Mart Helme met with Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and other law enforcement officials while on a recent trip to the United States. Helme said meetings with his U.S. counterparts were constructive and confirmed the willingness of our countries to cooperate.

The Embassy of Estonia to the U.S. has recently hosted several events of interest to the local community and beyond. Three of these were held at the Mehari Sequar Gallery in Washington, DC where a photography exhibit by a Brooklyn-based, Swedish-born Estonian artist Maria Spann currently on display.

Estonian Ambassador to the U.S. Jonatan Vseviov Receives Title of Lifetime Ambassador

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Tartu Peace Treaty, the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid recognized the dedication of three Estonian diplomats: Eve-Külli Kala, Simmu Tiigi and Jonatan Vseviov,  awarding them a lifetime designation of the title of ambassador.

The U.S. Congressional Research Service has published a new report looking at Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and U.S.-Baltic relations.
