Estonia to Slowly Start Easing Restrictions

On April 23, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas said that the government is going to extend the emergency situation and accompanying orders by a minimum of two weeks, but that the 2+2 rule (a maximum of 2 people in a group, staying 2 metres apart) will remain in force in Estonia for a "quite a long time". "The cost of rushing can be extremely severe," Ratas said, adding that an emergency situation should last a week too long rather than a day too little.

Finance Ministry Looking For a Legal Service Provider in the USA
The Ministry of Finance is looking for a legal service provider for the Estonian state in the United States in connection with the violation of international anti-money laundering requirements and the collection of fines. U.S. authorities announced last autumn that they would start investigating money laundering cases in the United States related to Estonia. In addition to the previous Danske Bank scandal, an investigation was also launched against Swedbank.


ERR Opens New Free "Jupiter" Web Channel
On April 22, Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) opened its new on demand video and audio service Jupiter, which is accessible online at Jupiter is ERR's new free web channel that bundles together "the best content ERR has to offer": series, shows, movies, documentaries and audio content ranging from concerts to radio plays. The platform's content will be updated weekly, including single broadcasts and complete seasons of series (some of which will premiere in Estonian), and on demand viewing of programs currently on air will be available. Scouts to Enjoy Virtual Hike and Campfire
The jüripäeva (St. George's Day) weekend camp and hike is an annual tradition in Estonia which this year had to be made safe in keeping with social distancing practices and will take place via a smartphone app. It's free and everyone, not just scouts, can participate. For more information go to
