The annual east coast Esto pilgrimage to snow country took place March 8 – 11th.
This year’s resort destination was Jay Peak Vermont. Over 100 skiers, snowboarders and snow bunnies made the trip and were treated to the most awesome conditions that could ever be imagined!
While the crowd this year was a tad smaller than last year’s gathering to celebrated Esto Ski 50th anniversary, those who did attend were treated to 3-days of amazing snow, sunny skies and temperatures that had most shedding their parkas for lighter spring garb.
Jay Peak resort has undergone an amazing transformation over the years that include upgraded accommodations, restaurants and a gigantic water park that made it difficult for many to choose between the slopes or man-made surfing and water rides.
The traditional Saturday morning Esto Races attracted over 60 skiers and boarders ranging from age 4 to 78. Medal winners and trophy winners are listed below.
The day’s events culminated with an awards dinner and dance that had participants chanting to the DJ for more when it unfortunately was time to pack up at midnight.
While next year’s group trip has not yet been booked, there was a lot of enthusiastic applause for returning to Jay 2014 when our trip leader Aini Maripuu polled the dinner attendees. That said…have a great summer and we hope to see all of our regulars and newcomers at next winter’s outing.
