Members of the Boston Baltic Centennial Planning Committee attended the United Nations Association Global Citizens Gala at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston on June 10th. Representing the Baltic nations at one table were Jim Barrett and Karin (Värnik) Barrett (Co-Chair of the Boston Baltic Centennial Celebration Committee, Estonia), Eric Suuberg (Vice President of the EANC, Estonia) and Inara Suuberg (President of the Latvian Heritage Foundation), Dr. Elliot Thrasher and Antra Thrasher (Trustee of the Latvian Heritage Foundation), Anne-Reet Ilves Annunziata (Honorary Consul for Estonia), Villu Tari (Past President of the Boston Estonian Society) and (not pictured) Lithuanian Honorary Consul Thorsteinn and Ransy Gislason.
They are joined in the photo by His Excellency Mr Ban Ki-moon, Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and winner of the Global Citizenship Award.
On November 23rd to 25th, 2018 the Baltic communities of Boston continue their tradition of hosting a combined event with the Boston Baltic Centennial Celebration. Featuring films, speakers, music, art and more this event has something for everyone.
