New Estonian Government Appointed
On April 24, President Kersti Kaljulaid appointed the new Estonian government, led by Jüri Ratas, to office. During the formal ceremony, statements were made by the chairmen of the three governing coalition parties: Jüri Ratas of the Centre Party, Mart Helme of the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) and Helir-Valdor Seeder of Isamaa.

The “Bülletään” newsletter, uniting the announcements, news and stories of Baltimore’s Estonian community since September 1965, saw its last issue go to print in April 2019.
Ambassador Visit’s Einseln’s Grave on Estonian Veterans’ Day
April 21 was Veterans’ Day in Estonia, which boasts over 3000 Defence Forces and Defence League veterans; both men and women. In honor of Veterans’ Day, Estonian Ambassador to the U.S. Jonatan Vseviov placed a wreath of rememberance and thanks on the grave of Colonel Aleksander Einseln at Arlington Cemetery.
Ferris Wheel Opened Atop Tallinn Shopping Mall Roof
A ferris wheel has been installed and opened atop Tallinn’s newest shopping centre “T1 Mall of Tallinn”. The ferris wheel takes riders 120 meters above sea level, to experience beautiful views of the city, Ülemiste Lake and the airport.
Five New Flying Squirrel Habitats Discovered in NE Estonia
RMK (Estonian State Forest Management Center’s) nature conservationists identified five new flying squirrel habitats during monitoring in Ida-Viru County in early April, for which special protection will be implemented. Finland and Estonia are the only two European Union member states with flying squirrel populations and their range has decreased drastically during the 20th century. In Estonia, they are found only in the Alutaguse forest on the north shore of Lake Peipsi.
