The Joint Baltic American National Committee, Inc. (JBANC) is happy to announce the arrival of Karīna Rozena, our new colleague from Riga, Latvia. Karīna came to Washington DC at the start of December courtesy of a Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF) scholarship.
Her academic portfolio combines studies of strategic communications mastered at Rīga Stradiņš University and a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the Riga Graduate School of Law.
Her previous work experience covered communication projects of varying scales and types starting with global Rail Baltica project communication and product marketing campaigns on social media to employer branding and recruitment marketing.
Her passion for communications comes from the sense of community that can focus on ideas that products and services represent.
She believes that strong communities help us all prosper.
During her time with JBANC she really hopes to help bring the Baltic-American community closer together by uniting them around ideas that JBANC has helped to support for over the past 60 years.
Karīna also has a special relationship with Estonia.
Just after finishing her Bachelor’s in 2015, she spent four months in Tallinn while doing her ERASMUS+ internship at the Estonian Institute.
During this time Estonian culture and nature became especially dear to her since part of her daily duties included work on the country’s promotion abroad.
This involved maintaining a culture blog and doing Estonian event reviews and organization, including in Finland.
Since then, Karīna has visited Estonia annually, and she especially appreciates exploring the country’s many islands.
