The Siemens Art Program congratulates Louisa Staples and Marcel Johannes Kits, who won their audition at Magnus Haus in Berlin and will perform as soloists in the fall of 2023 in New York’s Carnegie Hall. Both are fellows of Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
The jury says:
Louisa Staples convinces with her sensual tone, which makes the technical demands of the great violin literature a minor matter. Her stylistically confident interpretation of Bach’s solo sonatas, as well as of the romantic repertoire, shows her versatility and leads us to expect that we will experience her often as a soloist and chamber musician.
With Marcel Johannes Kits, we could experience a mature musical personality, who has a great tone and is able to completely exhaust the possibilities of the cello. He succeeded just as effortlessly with Schumann’s melodic elements, as with the rhythmically pulsating phrases of Shostakovich.
Siemens Arts Program, together with the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Lang Lang Music Foundation, is planning a concert evening at Carnegie Hall in New York. For a joint concert evening, we are looking for soloists from among the fellows of both foundations.
Louisa Staples and Marcel Johannes Kits will perform as soloists in the fall of 2023 in New York. We are very much looking forward to the performances of these young talents in one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world.
