What a pleasant surprise to witness such an amazing talented young dancer. Alissa Saluri is the daughter of Jessica and Rein Saluri and the granddaughter of Ulle and Peep Saluri.
Alissa was always dancing even before joining her first dancing school at the age of eight.
She took her first hip-hop class at Absolute Dance Center in Monroe.
The following year, in 2012, she joined Bodies in Motion Dance Centre in Sayreville.
During her first year here she was invited by the director to join the dance team, Inertia.
Alissa is training in several different styles of dance such as ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater and of course, bollywood.
Since joining the team Alissa has performed at South Amboy Day and volunteers her time performing holiday shows at many nursing homes.
She has also won a few competitions, placing in the top three in her category.
If you ask Alissa what her biggest accomplishment is so far she would say Disney.
During the summer her dance troupe danced in a Walt Disney World parade and performed on stage at Hollywood Studios Florida.
They were asked to close out the show, which is a huge compliment!
There are many exciting events happening this coming dance year for Alissa. She has the opportunity to dance with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in NY, NY. She will be learning choreography from the critically acclaimed work, Revelations. She will also be performing on the Intrepid during Fleet Week. In addition to these awarding opportunities she was honored to be chosen for her first duet.
In addition, Alissa has also performed in several plays. From the Union County Arts Theater in Rahway, she played the young Prince in, The Fisherman and His Wife, a Wizard in, The Sword and the Stone, Nightingale in, The Princess and the Pea and from the MSEP acting class, she played Annie Oakley.
Alissa has accomplished a lot in the past three years and we are all looking forward to seeing more performances by her.
