In most cases siblings are also the reasons we celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Day. Following the spirit of great traditinal celebrations to honor people who have shaped our values, beliefs and ideals, it is equally important to remember the bonds with our sibilings.
Siblings Day is gaining support around the country. According to the Siblings Day Foundation (SDF), 77 governors of 45 states, (representing approximately 84% of all Americans), including six former governors who became White House Cabinet members and celebrities as diverse as the Senator Edward M. Kennedy, TV personality Oprah Winfrey and Khloe Kardashian have recognized Siblings Day on April 105h.
Dozens of independent websites, newspapers and bloggers make reference to April 10th as Naitonal Siblings Day. Holiday card manufacturers are offering Siblings Day greeting cards. Former Presidents Bill Clinton in 2000 and George W. Bush in 2008 sent letters of greetings to American citizens observing Siblings Day.
Every year SDF gains more support from State governors. Last year Siblings Day sparked much conversation on social media websites and Facebook declared April 10th National Siblings Day, inspiring 1.5 million visitors at the SDF website.
Please support Ms. Evart and request Presidential Proclamation to proclaim April 10th as National Sibilings Day.
Information received from Ms. Claudia Evart, the initiator and president of the Siblings Day Foundation.
