On November 29, 2022, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held nomination hearings for ambassadorial nominees Christopher T. Robinson to the Republic of Latvia, and George P. Kent to the Republic of Estonia.
Both nominations were passed out of committee by a unanimous consent vote on December 7. A final vote on the Senate floor is expected soon.
Current U.S. Ambassador to Latvia John Carwile presented his credentials on November 5, 2019. The U.S. Embassy in Tallinn has been without an ambassador since July, 2018. In the interim, there have been three successive Chargé d’Affaires that have headed the mission.
