The Estonian American National Council has appointed Leelo Linask from Monroe, CT, as its new Executive Director, effective March 1. She replaces its long-time employee, Linda Rink, who resigned at the end of 2018.
Leelo is well-known from her years of volunteer work in scouting and in the Estonian American community. She is a board member and secretary of the Federation of Associations for Advancement of Estonian Youth (ESGSSL), of the Järvemetsa scout camp preservation fund, and of the National Council of Estonian Scouting, USA.
She is also a teacher at the Connecticut Estonian School. Leelo contributes regularly to the newspaper Vaba Eesti Sõna, and edits the youth page which EANC supports financially.
Leelo worked in Estonia for over ten years as a journalist and translator, as well as spokesman for the National Defense Forces. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communications, with a Bachelor of Science in magazine journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
