Estonia Gains Non-Permanent UN Security Council Seat
Estonia has gained a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2020-2021, following a vote at the international body’s headquarters in New York. The announcement came after a second secret ballot gave the seat to Estonia, with four other nations earlier picking up seats as well. Estonia was up against Romania from the Eastern Europe group of nations.
Pre-ESTO Photo Exhibition of Canadian Estonians at ERM
On June 11, the photo exhibition “Toronto Estonians and the Estonian National Museum. Contact with Estonia” was opened at ERM (the Estonian National Museum). The exhibition is part of the ESTO 2019 program of the 12th Estonian Cultural Days. The author of the exhibition is freelance photographer Kerly Ilves, who made portraits of Estonians living in Canada in 2014. Estonian Honorary Consulate Opened in Phoenix
On June 10, the Estonian honorary consulate in Phoenix was officially and ceremoniously opened. The Estonian honorary consul is Stephen Daniel Churcri. It is the third Estonian consulate opened in the U.S. this year. There are a total of 15 Estonian honorary consuls in the U.S., who have a great role in representing the interests of Estonia.
Own Alcohol Permitted at Song Celebration
Although no alcohol will be sold at the 27th Song Festival and 20th Dance Festival “Minu arm”, (My Fatherland is) “My Love”, you are permitted to bring a sensible amount of alcoholic drinks into the grounds with you. No glass bottles are allowed, though.
