Estonia Helped Organize UN Event Commemorating Srebrenica Genocide Victims
On July 10, a UN high-level event commemorated the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, Bosnia, 25 years ago.
The virtual commemoration event took place on a platform created by an Estonian enterprise.
Estonia was represented at the event by Permanent Representative to the UN Sven Jürgenson.
Amazon Office to Have Estonian Furniture
The international office of Amazon, one of the largest companies in the world, is located in central Spain.
This month, a bit of Estonia will become a practical and permanent fixture there, when 17 cozy office boxes manufactured and designed in Estonia will arrive directly from Telliskivi in Tallinn to Amazon’s head-quarters in Spain.
It is the largest order ever from such a huge company for Estonian furniture manufacturer Borg.
Estonia Supports Germany’s EU-Wide Police Partnership Idea
On July 7, the first informal video meeting of EU Home Affairs Ministers under the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union took place, with the idea of a European Police Partnership as one of the items on the agenda.
A pan-European police partnership should ensure that police officers in all member states have real-time access to the information they need to work, even if that information is located in another member state.
5,300+ People Participated in Tallinn’s “Open House”
Last weekend’s two-day Open House Tallinn event was attended by more than 5,300 people, who had access to places they would not otherwise be able to visit.
40 buildings, including private residences, those still under construction and exciting office and industrial spaces were explored with the help of volunteer guides.
The most popular destination was Patarei Prison, which was visited by 471 people in two days.
