Estonian Film Wins Best Children’s Film in U.S.
“The Little Comrade” (“Seltsimees laps”), voted best film of 2018 in Estonia, was chosen the best best children’s film of the year at the 18th Tiburon Film Festival in California.
Global Estonian Program Discussed with Population Minister
Estonia’s Minister of Population Riina Solman met with representatives of Estonian organizations abroad on May 23 to listen to their opinions regarding cooperation with the Estonian state, as well as their thoughts concerning preparations for the Global Estonian program.
Estonia and U.S. Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement
U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Kathryn Wheelbarger and Estonian Ministry of Defence Undersecretary for Defence Policy Kadi Silde signed a document at the Pentagon on May 22 that will see the continuation of defense cooperation between the U.S. and Estonia through 2024.
HRH The Princess Royal to visit Estonia
Her Royal Highness Anne, The Princess Royal, will visit Estonia on May 30. She will meet with President Kersti Kaljulaid and lay wreaths at the Defense Forces Cemetery in Tallinn. Military links between Estonia and the U.K. go back more than a century to the Estonian War of Independence. Princess Anne will commemorate all those fallen, including British servicemen laid to rest at the cemetery.
Many U.S. Choirs Made the Song Festival Cut
Based on the selection of the artistic jury, 1020 choirs and orchestras/ensembles made up of more than 35 000 performers, will participate at this summers 150th Song Festival. Eight choirs from the U.S. will be singing under the arched stage – half of them are Estonian and half are American choirs.
