Estonia’s First UN Security Council Presidency a Success
Estonia ended its first one-month term of holding the UN Security Council (UNSC) rotating presidency and on June 1st handed over the role to permanent UNSC member France.
“The month of May saw Estonia’s foreign service at the heart of crisis diplomacy during one of the greatest global crises – we handled this challenge well,” Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said.
100 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Estonia and Finland
This first week of June marks exactly 100 years since the beginning of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Finland.
The Republic of Estonia’s first piece of real estate abroad was the site of the Helsinki embassy building in Kaivopuisto .

Kind Donation Allowed Distribution of Estonian Food Packages
A donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted Estonian food importer “Amest Foods” recently wanting to support the Estonian community with Estonian food packages.
A total of 50 packages were assembled and those interested received the packages from the New York Estonian House.
Various food products hailing from Estonia were included.
The happy recipients thank the kind donator from the bottom of their hearts.
“Tuuletorn” Experience Center Opened on Hiiumaa Island
An “experience center” (elamuskeskus) known as “Tuuletorn” (“Wind Tower”) was opened in Käina on Hiiumaa island on June 1.
The exhibition runs through five floors and tells the story of Hiiumaa’s history, nature and people via exhibits including sound and video installations.
“Finally there is an attraction that will draw tourists year round,” mayor of Käina Omar Jõpiselg told ERR.
Tuuletorn also hosts a 20-metre high climbing wall, the highest in the Baltic countries.
