Vabamu and ETV2 Collecting Film Footage of Expatriate Estonians
ETV2 and Vabamu, the Museum of Occupations and Freedom, are collecting 8mm and Super8 films reflecting the life of Estonian communities abroad.
The collecting campaign will continue until December 31, 2020.
A selection of the collected films will be shown on the ETV2 channel and then stored in Vabamu’s collections.

Sirje Kiin, an Estonian literary scholar living in Madison, South Dakota, has become a local celebrity thanks to what the locals think is a strange hobby – swimming in cold water.
On October 19, an article about Sirje Kiin, her background and lifelong swimming hobby was published in the local newspaper Madison Daily Leader.
When the journalist went to see Sirje Kiin swimming in Lake Herman, the air temperature there was only 48 F.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published its full list of candidates for secretary-general.
The list of 10 includes President Kersti Kaljulaid, former Trump adviser and now White House Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Liddell, former Australian finance minister Mathias Cormann, former European Commissioners Cecilia Malmström and Anna Diamantopoulou, president of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Commerce Vladimir Dlouhy, Swiss former central bank chief Philipp Hildebrand, the OECD’s own deputy director Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen (Denmark), Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Michal Kurtyka and former Canadian finance minister Bill Morneau.

In June, the English photo magazine Amateur Photography highlighted 20 unusual places around the globe that should be visited as a photographer in 2020.
