On April 4 Estonian artist Kristi Kongi opened her first solo exhibition „Twilight in the Garden“ at Friedrichs Pontone Gallery in New York City.
Kongi paints abstracted landscapes through contrasting, bright colors and geometric shapes. Her work emphasizes the beauty of nature through a fragmented lens. By focusing on the simplistic shapes and colors of the Earth, Kongi portrays the energy and feelings that the natural world elicits. She creates metaphors that connect the sky to feelings of hope and fear while personifying the moon and the light of day.
This show is a remarkable step in Kristi Kongi’s international journey and a proud moment for Estonian contemporary art. On April 24–27, Friedrichs Pontone Gallery will present her works at the Expo Chicago.

“I was lucky to meet Kristi and the owner of the gallery Martin Friedrichs,” writes Madli-Liis Parts, Estonian Cultural Attaché to the U.S., on social media. “It was one of those meetings where the conversation just didn’t want to end. I hope Estonian art will continue to find its way to this excellent spacious gallery in the future.”
The gallery at 273 Church Street, NYC, holds a significant position in New York City’s art scene with locations in both London and New York, bridging European and American art markets, offering artists valuable international exposure. Also it has a great location in one of NYC’s key art districts.
The exhibition „Twilight in the Garden“ runs until May 3rd, 2025.
