Pillerkaar, Estonian Folk Dancers of the Washington DC Metro Area, full of energy and vigor, spent half the day dancing at the 9th annual Estonian Embassy for the European Union Embassies’ Open House on May 9, 2015 in Washington, DC.
Each year, the EU embassies in Washington DC open their doors for a day of visiting the embassies of all 28 member countries to get a rare look inside the embassy, to hear traditional singing, to watch traditional dancing, or to taste indigenous foods.
By noon, the lines to the embassies were all over 100 people long, and people were glad that Pillerkaar performed outside the Estonian Embassy so they could take pictures and get a rare opportunity to see traditional Estonian folk dance.
Pillerkaar even invited many onlookers to come to dance with them and share a tiny “bit of culture”!
Pillerkaar was in over 150 pictures taken by people from all over the country who came to take a look at the embassies.
