The Estonian Police and Border Guard have released video showing a group of Estonian and Russian border guards doing a walkthrough shortly after the September 5 incident in which Estonian security police office Eston Kohver was abducted.
The video is available at the uudised.err.ee site.
A copy of the report signed by both Estonian and Russian border guards and a diagram of the area were also released last night.
The report states that people – probably the abductors – crossed the border from Russia and returned there.
“The report shows without question that an illegal border crossing took place from the Russian Federation to Estonia and back at border post 121.
There are also signs of an explosion on the Russian side that confirms that the abduction of Eston Kohver was already planned earlier,” said Police and Border Guard director general Elmar Vaher.
The joint inspection was conducted at the Estonians’ initiative and assistants of both border representatives signed the report. However, a meeting of border guards to confirm the findings was canceled Wednesday.
Internal Security Service officer Kohver went missing while near the border on September 5. ISS officials are strictly prohibited from traveling to Russia.
Kohver later turned up in custody of the FSB Moscow where he was arraigned on espionage charges and paraded for the cameras.
