Photo from last week’s re-burial of August and Regina Võhma.
Major August Võhma, was re-buried next to his commanding officer Col Alfons Rebane at Metsakalmistu just outside of Tallinn.
Võhma was just an ensign in 1940 but in four short years was promoted to major. Col Rebane was the most highly decorated Estonian officer during WWII.
Col Rebane achieved fame for his ability to get out of tight situations.
On at least one of these occasions, it was because Major Võhma stayed behind to allow his unscathed escape.
