The San Francisco International Film Festival is back in person April 13–23! The San Francisco Estonian Society is proud to co-present „Savvusanna sõsarad“ (Smoke Sauna Sisterhood), on Sunday, April 23 at 2:15 pm PT in San Francisco.
Director Anna Hints’ debut feature won the Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema–Documentary directing award.
Following a group of Estonian women who gather in a handmade sweat lodge, the film languidly moves through the seasons as bodies gather in the rituals of the sauna. Baring their souls and their flesh, tears are released into the heavy, warm air, and quickly dispelled with laughter as the women nurture one another.
Director Anna Hints and producer Marianne Ostrat are expected to attend in person and make introductory remarks. Use the promo code T52WG97 to get discounted tickets at the link: Smoke Sauna Sisterhood – SFFILM
