Queen of Denmark Visits Tallinn
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was on an official visit to Tallinn on the weekend of June 15, the 800th anniversary of the date when, according to legend, the Dannebrog, the red and white flag of Denmark, fell from the skies during the Battle of Lyndanise in what is now Tallinn. The queen was on hand for the opening of many exhibitions dedicated to the anniversary.
Performance of Estonian Folk Dancers from Abroad in Tallinn
On Sunday, July 7 at 12 noon, a concert entitled “The Unifying Land is Estonia”, featuring Estonian folk dance groups from abroad, will take place on Vabaduse väljak. There will be a total of 340 dancers from 25 groups hailing from 14 different nations. The idea for the concert came from the staff of the Tantsupeo (Dance Festival) museum a year ago, during a local summer course for folk dance leaders abroad.
State Agrees to Grant €5 Million for Hollywood Movie
The state has agreed to provide €5 million in funding for a Hollywood movie being filmed in Tallinn in June and July. The movie, “Tenet”, directed by Briton Christopher Nolan and starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, has already been the subject of much media attention, both for the publicity it should bring to Estonia and controversy over closing roads for filming scenes, the news portal ERR writes. A film support scheme was set up in 2016 as a stimulating support measure for the economy, and analysis so far shows that every euro invested gets a six-fold return.
Electric Kick-Scooters For Rent in Tallinn
There are close to 120 electric kick-scooters available to rent in Tallinn. The scooter unlocks when its QR code is scanned with a smartphone app. The fee for use in 10 cents a minute or 6 euros an hour. You must be 18 years of age to rent and ride.
