In Terms of Economic Output, Estonia Ranks First in Supporting Ukraine
According to recent data compiled by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, small countries such as Estonia have spent much more of their GDP in the first month of the war to support Ukraine than largest economies such as the U.S, UK or EU. The Ukraine Support Tracker systematically tracks the scale of aid that governments of 31 Western countries have pledged to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion. According to the database, the U.S. is the largest current supporter of Ukraine, with the equivalent of 7.6 billion euros since the outbreak of war. However in relation to economic output, Estonia is Ukraine’s biggest supporter, followed by Poland and Lithuania. The U.S. ranks 6th here, and Germany 12th. (Pg 1)
