Global Estonian Virtual Forum on May 5th
A virtual forum for Estonians worldwide will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 16:00 Estonian time (UTC/GMT +3). You can watch the virtual forum hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Worksup platform from anywhere via the internet. The forum will have simultaneous interpretation into English and Russian and there will be a Q&A session. The first panel discussion will look at the impact of Europe’s alarming security situation on Estonia. The second will focus on Estonia’s e-state services, including its uses for Estonians abroad and whether people know of and use these options sufficiently. Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets and President Kersti Kaljulaid will speak, singer and composer Mari Kalkun is the musical guest and the forum will be moderated by Silver Tambur, cofounder and editor-in-chief of the online publication Estonian World. American Estonians’ Greeting at Benefit Concert for Ukrainian Children
On Saturday, April 23, a benefit concert for Ukrainian children was held at Tallinn’s Saku Suurhall Arena, featuring young Estonian singers and musicians along with many well-known performers. Young Estonians from Canada, France and the U.S. also greeted Estonian and Ukrainian peers via the Internet. 2.4 Billion Words Worth of Estonian Texts Collected
The Estonian Language Institute has compiled more than 2.4 billion words worth of Estonian texts using special language software, which enables researchers to very accurately study the development of language and update changes in online dictionaries practically in real time. (Pg 9)
