Louis Kahn Memorial Plaque Unveiled in Kuressaare
On May 5, a memorial plaque honoring Estonian-born American architect Louis Kahn was unveiled in Kuressaare Castle Park on Saaremaa island. Leading American manufacturer of historic signs, Sewah Studios, Inc. sand cast the aluminum panel. Trouble Finding Seasonal Workers
Despite the fact that more than 37,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Estonia, it’s not possible to recruit essential seasonal workers in sufficient quantities, according to the Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce. A lack of interest in working and living in rural areas and lack of previous experience in agriculture were cited as the main obstacles in the employment of war refugees. Meanwhile, local strawberry growers are saddened by the fact that Ukrainian pickers they have hired for several summers are now in a dangerous warzone. (Pg 5)
