ERR News – The Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Champion-ships started on January 26 in the southern Estonian town of Otepää, marking the country's biggest-ever high-profile athletic competition.
Seven hundred young athletes from 38 countries will compete in single and cross country skiing, ski jumping and the biathlon. Estonia is represented by 36 athletes.
“The Junior World Championships are the young athlete's first big tournament, and giving one's all will set apart a great athlete from the rest,“ said two-time olympic gold winner Kristina Shmigun-Vähi. „That shows willpower and potential, and the ability to work hard in the right moment and pull yourself together.”
The event goes until January 31 and entry is free of charge for the audience.
